The blogging wilderness has finally turned into some form of civilisation as The Deckie gathers her thoughts and begins to regale to trusty and loyal followers the (what we hope to be) further adventures of Team Turtle!
Since the return from our major expedition in 2011 - The Adventures of the Turtle Trekkers - our little Team has undergone a small transformation.
The Original Team Turtle
During our big trip, we found that Top End fishing was not conducive to having a large boat (Tuf Cat) and that there were times that it would have been good to have a car (The Rav) with us. To sort out this little problem a smaller boat was purchased - with a matching motor - and The Captain spent many nights designing a car/boat trailer and associated winching capabilities. The materials were purchased and The Captain then built the New Trailer. It was a team effort as The Deckie was on hand to give moral support and providing sustenance at regular intervals.
Team Turtle - Version One
Once this new trailer was designed and manufactured, Team Turtle spent many a day on some of the northern rivers
of New South Wales camping and catching fish. As usual some days the
fishing was great and others - well, they were nice days on the
water!!! We sold L'll Pussy to a lovely couple that we met at Yamba
and Tuf Cat is on the market awaiting some brand new owners.
Over the ensuing months there have been a few "little tweaks" made on Team Turtle (mainly with the boat and trailer) and then we were all ready to set off again onto some more adventures!
Team Turtle - Current Version
The aim of this current trip is to visit and, hopefully, catch some fish in some of the major dams and impoundments of Queensland. We also have plans to gaze in awe at some of the magnificent geological formations that Queensland has to offer and maybe see some of the bits that the heavy precipitation of 2010/2011 prevented us from seeing whilst we traversed that state.
All good plans and we will just have to wait and see what happens.....
